The Dallas Jackals obtained former Endicott College Matthew Gash-Gilder in a trade with the New England Free Jacks along with Connor Robinson, sending an international spot to the Free jacks for 2022, The Free Jacks now have 13 spots to the Jackals 6. Both players had signed a one-year developmental contract with New England. The 23-year-old flanker is 6’2” and 215lbs.
Matthew trained with the Free jacks and played with the New England Independents in 2022.
The 23-year-old flanker is from Kalispell, Montana. He attended Kalispell Flathead High School where he graduated in 2017. He was a multi-sport athlete in wrestling, a defensive end in football, and a member of the school’s Class AA State rugby champions. He also won a sports writing award.
Matthew attended Endicott College from 2017 to 2021, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art. He was a 2021 National Collegiate Rugby All-American and an NCR New England All-Star Team selection in 2021. After graduating in 2021, he continued on in graduate school at the college.
He played for Mystic River during the American Rugby Premiership 2021 season and was a member of the New England Free Jacks Development squad for 2022.
