Dallas Jackals Obtains Patrick Donovan on Loan

The Dallas Jackals obtained Patrick Donovan on loan from the Houston SaberCats.

The Houston SaberCats had re-signed Patrick Donovan for the 2022 Major League Rugby season where he played for both the SaberCats and Rugby HTX. The 25-year-old hooker is 5’8″ and 260 lbs.

Patrick played 284 minutes in 8 matches, starting once, for the SaberCats in 2021. He then returned to Rugby HTX for the Fall.

Patrick is from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and attended Doherty High School where he played football and rugby. Following his graduation, he went to Lindenwood University – Belleville from 2015-2019, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing. He was a Marketing Intern for Pro Rugby Agency in 2016.

While at Lindenwood-Belleville, he played rugby and helped the team win the D1AA College 7s title in 2019.

From 2019-to 2020 he played with the Glendale Merlins until the pandemic shut down team play.

During Fall 2020 through the beginning of 2021, he played with the Houston SaberCats Academy team, Rugby HTX until receiving a call-up for 2021 and again in 2022.
