Rugby ATL Re-Signs Lui Sitama

Rugby ATL re-signed Lui Sitama for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. He was the 4th player selected in the 2020 Major League Rugby Collegiate Draft and began the 2021 season with Austin Gilgronis playing 22 minutes in one match before finishing the season with Rugby ATL where he did not see any regular-season action. The 25-year-old center is 5’9″ and 225 lbs.

Lui played with Pathway 404 this Fall, Rugby ATL’s Academy team, and re-joins the MLR squad after the third week of the 2022 season.

Lui was born in Moamoa, Upolu, Samoa, but regards Lacey, Washington as his hometown. He attended River Ridge High School, graduating in 2015, and was on the track and field team, in the shot put discus, and Javelin. He played rugby for the Budd Bay Barbarians and his performance gained him an invitation to the USA Rugby U20 Camp in 2015 and 2016.

Lui attended American International College from 2015-to 2020 graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Digital of Arts with a minor in Communications. He was involved in both rugby 15s and 7s and helped the team achieve a ranking of 2nd nationally in rugby sevens in 2019. He also was named the top back at the Nationals that year.

Lui also played club 7s as part of the Washington Athletic Club team and helped the team win the 2019 National Championship.
