The Houston SaberCats added Hunter Blanchard for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old hooker/flanker who also plays loosehead/tighthead prop is 6’0” and 245lbs.
Hunter is from Yukon, Oklahoma, and attended Yukon High School and began playing rugby when he was 18. He also played football, as well as a state champion stand-up paddle-boarder, weight lifter, and on the speech and debate team.
He attended Tabor College from 2015 to 2016 before transferring to Lindenwood University -Belleville, where he attended from 2016-2020, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. He played rugby at the university and in 2017 was included in FloRugby’s Top D1AA Players Of The Fall – 2nd Team. He was a three-year starter and a two-time D1AA All-American.
After graduating he played for the Belleville Rowdies in Illinois and in 2021 joined Rugby HTX, the Houston SaberCats Academy team.
