Houston SaberCats Pursues Marcos Moroni

The Houston SaberCats has recruited Argentina Pumas Sevens center, Marcos Moroni, pending visa approval for the 2022 Major League Rugby season according to Americas Rugby News. The 26-year-old fullback/wing is 6’3″ and 195 lbs.

Marcos was a 2021 URBA Top 12 champion with CUBA and is the younger brother of Matías Moroni, who represented Los Pumas at the 2015 and 2019 World Cups and is currently with the Leicester Tigers. Unlike his brother, Marcos Moroni is uncapped. The 26-year-old is primarily a fullback but can also play on the wing.

Marcos made his World Sevens Series debut in Dubai in 2017 and has played in 20 events, as well as playing in the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco. He missed most of the 2019-2020 Series with a knee injury but has recovered and has returned to rugby since then with CUBA.
