Chicago Hounds Signs Caleb Strum

The Chicago Hounds signed Caleb Strum for the 2023 Major League Rugby season, after obtaining his signing rights in the 2022 MLR dispersal draft. The 24-year-old wing (25 in April) is 6’3″ and 190 lbs.

Caleb played 81 minutes in 2 matches, with three ball carries for 34 meters for Austin Giltinis in 2022. He also helped the Chicago Griffins win the Midwest Premiership title this past fall.

Caleb played with the Austin Gilgronis Academy Team, the Outlaws, in the Fall of 2021, and during the 2022 MLR preseason.

Caleb is from Warrenton, Virginia, and attended Fauquier High School, where he was on the wrestling team from 2014 to 2016. He attended the University of Alabama from 2016 to 2020. He was SEC All-Conference from 2016 to 2019 and helped the team win. the 2016 SCRC title.

In 2021, he played in the USA Club Sevens Nationals with NOVA Rugby and in the Tropical Sevens with the U23 Men. he also played in the inaugural professional sevens league in the U.S., the Premier Rugby Sevens on October 9 in Memphis, Tennessee.
