Rugby ATL Duncan Van Schalkwyk 2022 Profile

Rugby ATL will have Duncan Van Schalkwyk back for the second year of his contract extension which he signed through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old flyhalf /scrumhalf is 5’9″ and 175 lbs.

Duncan played 354 minutes in 9 matches, starting 3, for the Ratlers in 2021. He played for Life’s Men in the Fall American Rugby Premiership at flyhalf.

He started all five matches for the team in 2020, playing in 360 out of 400 minutes, and added 11 points.

Duncan is from Pretoria, South Africa, and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina with his family in 2005. He attended Providence High and played rugby with the Charlotte Tigers, and was honored by North Carolina Youth Rugby Union on their Wall of Stars in 2015.

Duncan went to Life University from 2014-2019 and was a three-time National Champion and a standout in the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship. He was a first-team All-American, played with the USA Under-20s in the World Junior Trophy in 2016, and was part of the Eagles 2019 Americas Rugby Championship touring roster.  He is also part of Gary Gold’s Eagles player pool for the 2019 Pacific Nations Cup this summer with hopes of earning his first international cap.
