NOLA Gold Rugby Club’s Ignacio Dotti returns to the team for the 2022 Major League Rugby season, the final year of his contract extension. The 27-year-old Uruguay International lock/back row is 6’5″ and 235 lbs.
Ignacio played 640 minutes in 12 matches, starting 7, for NOLA Gold in 2021. He returned to Uruguay for international play and helped the team secure a spot in the 2023 Rugby World Cup as the Americas 1 Team after beating the United States.
In 2020 he started the first three matches at lock, playing 159 minutes before breaking his arm against the Colorado Raptors. In 2019 he played 963 minutes in 13 matches, 12 as a starter, and had 3 tries.
Dotti graduated from Ivy Thomas Memorial High School and then studied at the Universidad ORT Uruguay.
In 2014 he played against the U.S. in the Junior World Rugby Trophy Bronze match in the team’s 26-25 loss. Since then, he has played for Uruguay A and the Senior National team since 2015.
Dotti debuted for the Uruguay national Rugby Team on April 11, 2015, against Paraguay and his last match was against the USA at Montevideo, Oct 9, 2021. He has 54 caps for Uruguay, starting 42 times, including playing in 4 matches in the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan and scoring 4 tries.
For Uruguay A, he played at the 2014 Americas Rugby Championship and in October 2018 in the Americas Pacific Challenge. Dotti also has played against the Houston SaberCats in a January 20, 2018 preseason match at Sugar Land, Texas.
Dotti has been a key contributor to NOLA Gold since his arrival in 2019.
