San Diego Legion Signs Will Hooley

San Diego Legion signed USA Eagle No. 517, Will Hooley, through the 2023 season. The 28-year-old flyhalf/fullback is 6’2″ and 200 lbs.

Will is from Cambridge, England. He attended St John’s College School and then The Leys School from 2007-2012. He played youth rugby for Cambridge Rugby Club.

Will attended Staffordshire University from 2017-2020, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sports, Writing, Journalism, and Broadcasting.

National Team

Will has qualified to represent the United States through his American grandmother. He played for the England winning team at Under-20s at the 2013 IRB Junior World Championship. In 2018 he made his debut on 3 February in an uncapped win over Argentina XV at the Americas Rugby Championship before his first test against Canada at Sacramento on 10 February. He played in 3 matches at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. The last of his 18 tests (13 starts) was against New Zealand at FedEx Field on 23 October.

Premiership Rugby & RFU Championship

From 2012-2015 Will played with the Northampton Saints, also playing in the European Challenge Cup and the Anglo-American Cup. From 2013-2015 he also played with Birmingham Moseley on loan.

From 2015-2017 he played with Exeter Chiefs, and also played in the European Challenge Cup. He then mover to Bedford Blues in the RFU Championship from 2017-2020, before playing with the Saracens in 2020-2021.
