The New England Free Jacks has Quentin Newcomer returning for the second year of a contract that he signed through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old tighthead prop is 6’1″ and 255 lbs.

Quentin played 498 minutes in 14 matches for the Free Jacks in 2021, starting 6,

Quentin appeared in four matches during the truncated 2020 season as a reserve. He was proficient in breaking the gainline with 10 carries for 41 meters and made 29% of tackles that were dominant in nature.

Quentin lives in Fairfax, Virginia, and attended Oakton High School in Oakton, Virginia. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University from 2015-2018, majoring in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

Quentin began playing rugby three years ago with Steamboat Springs Rugby Club, playing two seasons in the Rocky Mountain League. He also played for the James River Rugby Club.

He previously played loosehead prop and his ability to play either side makes him an asset to the New England Free Jacks. Quentin played with Free Jacks in the Cara Cup in 2019 coming off the bench against Munster, Ulster, and Leinster. Following the season, he went to New Zealand playing with Sumner Rugby Club in the Canterbury Premier Club Division.

The additional professional experience in New Zealand should help him be an important contributor to the Free jacks through 2023.
