Matt Hood
The Toronto Arrows signed Matthew Hood for the 2022 Major League Rugb season. The 27-year-old wing/fullback, who is from Sydney, Australia, is 5’8″ and 170 lbs.
Matt attended Newington College 2007-2012 where he played rugby, swam, and played water polo. He attended Sydney University from 2013-2015, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Marketing, and continued his education there from 2016-2017 in a Master’s of Management program.
Matt played in the New South Wales Shute Shield for Sydney University from 2015-2017 and again from 2019-2021. RugbyNews,AU considered him to be one of the four fastest players in the league.
Matt played for the Australia’s national sevens team from 2017-2020, and featured in 25 matches over seven tournaments on the World Rugby Sevens Series, scoring nine tries. He also played in the Oktoberfest Sevens in 2017, the 2019 Spring Club Sevens, the 2019 Coral Coast Sevens with the Aussie Development Team, and the Oceania Sevens that year. He turned his attention back to rugby XVs when he was not considered for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with Australia making player cuts, due to what is speculated as being financially motivated during the pandemic.
