Rugby ATL RE-Signed Wikus Gronewald

Rugby ATL re-signed Wilkus Groenewald for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old tighthead prop (25 in January) is 6’2″ and 255 lbs.

Wikus played 784 minutes in 14 starts and scored one try for the Ratlers in 2021. He then played for Life university men’s Rugby club in the Fall American Rugby Premiership.

Wilkus is from Somerset West, South Africa, and attended Paarl Boys’ High School where he played rugby, as well as track and field, throwing the discus, shot put, and hammer throw. He also played with the Stellenbosch Maties since 2017.

In 2017 Wilkus played for the South Africa U20s in winning the World U20s Championship. During 2017-2018 he played for the Western Province Rugby Union Stormers, in 2019 for the Boland Cavaliers, and the Leopards in the Currie Cup, and the Rugby Challenge. During the 2019-2020 season, he played with the Pumas in the Currie Cup.
