New England Free Jacks Re-signs Cam Davidowicz

The New England Free Jacks signed Cam Davidowicz through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old back-row (26 in February) is 6’1″ and 225lbs.

Cam was signed to the wider training squad for the remainder of the 2021 Major League Rugby season. He played with Mystic River in the Premier Summer 7s competition and in the Fall in American Rugby Premiership in XVs.

Davidowicz also represented the New England Independents, the Free Jacks development program, during the 2020 season, earning man of the match in the first matchup with the Free Jacks in January of the year.

He is from Bradford, Massachusetts, and attended Whittier Regional Vocational School. As a freshman, he began playing rugby with Essex County Youth Rugby Bulldogs, who won three consecutive Massachusetts High School Club Division Championships through 2014.

Following high school, he went to Plymouth State University where he played rugby for the Norsemen and was honored twice as an NSCRO All-American. In 2019 he also attended the USA Men’s Collegiate Selection East Camp in Rochester, NY.

Cam played with Mystic River in the Premier Summer Sevens and was on the Mystic River Collegiate Select team, which traveled to Montreal, Quebec to face the Voyageurs of Lower Ontario in 2018. He also played on Mystic River’s Division 1 Club team following playing with Plymouth State.

Cam played with the New England Independents against the New England Free jacks in January 2020 and was the Man of the Match in the first game on January 18.

New England Free Jacks Comments

“It’s an honor to be signed by the New England FreeJacks,” exclaimed Davidowicz. “It means a lot to me to play for my home team. Can’t wait to take the pitch in front of my friends and family come springtime.”

“Cam impressed when he joined the Free Jacks wider squad as a training player this year and proved himself as a loose-forward with Mystic River during the 2021 ARP,” commented Free Jacks Performance Director, Tom Kindley. “He is a good local man, tough as nails, effective in contact, and surprisingly athletic. He has well and truly earned the opportunity to progress to the next level and we look forward to seeing his game develop further within the MLR.”

At 24 years old, the local back-rower will look to impress the New England fanbase in his new role with the Free Jacks. Entering a new chapter in his rugby career, Davidowicz will take the pitch along with the rest of the squad in this highly anticipated 2022 MLR season.
