Rugby ATL Alex Maughan 2022 Profile

Rugby ATL re-signed Eagle #508 Alex Maughan for the 2022 Major League Rugby season according to EAM Sports. The 26-year-old hooker (27 in April) is 5’10” and 250 lbs.

Alex played 716 minutes in 15 matches, starting 10, and scoring 2 tries for Rugby ATL in 2021.

Alex played with Pathway 404 during the Fall 2019 and 2020 seasons. He played 365 minutes for Rugby ATL in 2020, starting all five matches, and scored 3 tries. In the 2021 preseason, he played in the Rugby ATL Silver and Black match and then against the Utah Warriors.

Alex joined NOLA Gold Rugby at the end of the 2019 MLR season, and played 120 minutes in three matches, starting twice.

Alex is from Charlotte, North Carolina, and attended Arborbrook Christian Academy. He went to Life University from 2014-2018, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. He was the captain of the two-time D1A National Champions in 2016 and in 2018. He was an All-American and toured with the AIG Men’s Collegiate All-Americans to Queensland, Australia in 2016. Currently, he is enrolled in an MBA program at Louisiana State University.

Alex has played for the USA Selects in the Americas Pacific Challenge and for the Eagles XVs (No. 508), where he played against Uruguay in the 2017 Americas Rugby championship. He was also selected to the Eagles extended squad in 2018, but did not play.
