Toronto Arrows Re-Signs Tyler Rowland

The Toronto Arrows re-signed Tyler Rowland for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 22-year-old tighthead prop is 6’3″ and 255 lbs.

Tyler played 468 minutes in 12 matches, starting 7, including 132 carry metres on 27 carries, 62 tackles (91.2% completion), three tackle-breaks, one breakdown steal, and scored one try for the Arrows in 2021.

He played 23 minutes during the 2020 season. He also was part of Rugby Canada’s Pacific Pride National Development Program.

Tyler is from Mississauga, Ontario, and attended Mentor College. He played club rugby with the Toronto Nomads and has played age-grade level rugby for Canada.

He played for the Under-17s and was the captain of the Under-18s in 2017. The team played in the Rugby Europe Open Championships. He also played for the Under-20s at the World RugbyTrophy competition in 2018 and in 2019.

While with the Toronto Nomads, Tyler was a 2017 scholarship recipient to travel to New Zealand to train with the Canstaff Crusaders International High-Performance Unit.

Tyler has attended the University of British Columbia since 2017 where he is majoring in the Arts and plays rugby with the Thunderbirds.

Tyler has also played provincial rugby with the Ontario Blues Under 19s in the Canadian Rugby Championships.

Tyler has accrued six caps for Canada since making his international debut against Wales in July 2021. He also represented Canada at the 2018 World Rugby Under-20 Trophy (as an under-ager) and again throughout the 2019 World Rugby Under-20 Trophy qualifier series.
