The Toronto Arrows re-signed Mason Flesch for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 22-year-old flanker/lock is 6’5″ and 235 lbs.
Mason played 496 minutes in10 appearances (seven starts) in his debut season with the Arrows in 2021. He produced 145 carry metres on 20 carries, 54 tackles (83.1% completion), 96 ruck arrivals, 15 lineout takes two lineout steals, two offloads, two tackle-breaks, one breakdown steal, and one linebreak in his first season with the club.
Mason is from Cobourg, Ontario, and attended St. Mary’s Secondary School. There, he was an outstanding rugby player.
Mason played rugby for the Cobourg Saxons, age-grade rugby for the Ontario Blues, and played in the British Columbia Premier League with James Bay Athletic Association. In 2019 he played for Rugby Canada’s U20s Junior World Trophy team in three matches, starting once.
From 2019-2021, he was part of Rugby Canada’s residential Men’s Development Academy at the Al Charron National Training Centre and played for the Pacific Pride in the BC Premier League. He also was invited to Rugby Canada’s senior men’s three-week training camp in November. Flesch has earned two caps for Canada since making his international debut against the United States in September 2021.
Mason also was selected for the Vancouver Island Crimson Tide’s January 2020 match against the Seattle Seawolves.
