Utah Warriors Signs Jone Vatuwaliwali

The Utah Warriors signed Jone Vatuwaliwali for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 21-year-old scrumhalf is 5’6″ and 195 lbs.

Jone is from Labasa, Northern, Fiji. He played soccer and rugby in primary school and attended Ratu Kadavulevu School from 2015-2018 where he concentrated on playing rugby. He excelled in the sport and in 2017 played for Fiji’s U18 while he was 17 and again in 2018.

In 2018 he was honored as the U18 Best players Deans Award after a Suva Rugby Club team championship, and the Fiji Secondary School Player of the Year. He also played for the Fijian Schools beating the New Zealand Barbarian Schools that year.

In 2019 he was named to the Swire Shipping Fijian Warriors squad and at the local Radradra 7s tournament, won the U21 best player award, while playing for the Dominion Brothers.

The Covid-19 pandemic canceled the World Rugby Junior Championship and curtained his opportunity to represent Fiji for the U20s.

Jone is excited to join the Utah Warriors and play professional rugby in 2022.
