Rugby New York Re-Signs Kaleb Geiger

Rugby New York re-signed Kaleb Geiger for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old hooker (26 in May) is 6’1″ and 250 lbs.

After playing with Colorado XO, Kaleb signed with Rugby United New York during Summer 2021. He did not play with New York in a regular-season match but played with the Academy side against Roots Rugby at St. John’s University. He returned to the American Raptors for their Fall season, including a tour of Uruguay where the team beat Los Cuervos and Uruguay A before a narrow loss to Uruguay A to end the tour.

Kabel is powerful with ball-in-hand and has continued to develop as he transitioned to rugby. In his brief time with New York, he demonstrated how he could be an asset to the team, and he has a bright future in the sport.

Kaleb is from Sedalia, Colorado, and comes from a family of loggers. He played youth baseball, football, and wrestling and continued with these sports at Castle View High School before graduating in 2014. His first love was baseball and he played three years of varsity.

He also played two years of varsity football and was a 1st team All-Conference his senior year and second-team as a junior. As a senior, he was the team’s MVP and team defensive player of the year. He was a varsity wrestler for four years including three years advancing to States, and finishing in third place his senior year. He was a three-time All-Conference selection and the team’s MVP his junior and senior years.

Kaleb attended Concordia University – Nebraska from 2014-2018, graduating with a degree in Biology and then enrolled in a Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration in 2018 through his graduation in 2020. He excelled in baseball from 2015-2018. He was a 1st team GPAC All-Conference selection in 2016, as well as gaining honorable mention status prior. He also was the 2016 Omaha World-Herald NAIA All-Nebraska selection at 1st base and was 2016 GPAC Play of the Week (March 22). In 2018 he was a redshirt in football and played in 2019.

Kaleb joined the RugbyTown Crossover Academy for the 2020-2021 season, which consisted of ten matches against Academy, Representative sides, and Division one club rugby teams.

With Wilton Rebolo leaving Rugby United New York to represent Brazil in international tests, Kaleb provides player coverage at hooker for the remainder of the 2021 Major League Rugby season.
