Houston SaberCats Names Pote Human Head Coach

The Houston SaberCats have hired Pote Human as the new head coach. Human joins Heyneke Meyer as the ‘Cats look to be bigger, faster, and stronger in 2022.

Human has spent two decades as a professional coach, most notably with the Bulls of Super Rugby and Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup in South Africa. An 8 man in his playing days, Pote brings strong experience in working with Forwards but also has a proven record of winning as a head coach.

Human will report directly to and work with the new Director of Rugby, Heyneke Meyer. The two have shared success over the years in South Africa, winning the Super 14 with the Bulls in 2007 among their many accolades.

“I am ecstatic to join the SaberCats and to work with the leadership and players of this great club,” said Human. “I want to contribute and make a positive impact during this exciting journey. I committed because I believe in the vision of the leadership. It is time for the SaberCats to win and I am sure we will grow as a team to do exactly that.”
