The Rugby Showcase Gets Players Seen Before the Draft

[June 24, 2021, Westport, CT] – On August 7, The Rugby Showcase will offer rugby players an opportunity to prove their talents in a draft style showcase in front of Major League Rugby personnel, coaches, and star players before the Major League Rugby Draft on August 19th.

The Rugby Showcase is presented by the High-Performance Management Group and will provide professional positional coaching, laser-measured timing technology, and live scrimmaging.

The Rugby Showcase will take place at Staples High School in Westport, CT., and will feature Major League Rugby draft declared players.

It starts at 9 am with physical testing of the applicants 18 and over and is followed by positional skills. The event will culminate with a scrimmage that may determine the future of the top applicants.

Events like The Rugby Showcase are an excellent way for aspiring athletes to gain exposure and be evaluated by GMs and Coaches ahead of the big day.”

While attendance is not mandatory for prospects to be considered for the selection during the MLR Draft, TRS will provide draft-declared, draft-eligible, and a select group of non-draft eligible athletes the opportunity to make a statement in front of Major League Rugby representatives before draft day. Draft-eligible players will be featured in our streaming coverage.

This special event will be operated by MLR veterans and professional staff, offering a unique insight into what athletes can expect at the next level.

Major League Rugby Collegiate Draft 2021

 “For the 2021 Draft only, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MLR is waiving the requirement for athletes to have been a registered collegiate rugby player in the year preceding the draft. However, all athletes must have been enrolled in college during the 2020-2021 academic year. Players are encouraged to review the eligibility section at www.MajorLeague.Rugby/Draft and reach out to for any queries.

Collegiate players who meet the draft criteria may declare for the draft by filling out the MLR enrollment form by Friday, August 6, 2021. The enrollment form and more information can be found here.
