Rugby ATL added Lui Sitama for the remainder of the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 4th player in the Major League Rugby Collegiate Draft began the season with Austin Gilgronis. The 24-year-old center (25 at the end of June) is 5’9″ and 225 lbs.
Lui was born in Samoa but regards Lacey, Washington as his hometown. He attended River Ridge High School graduating in 2015 and was on the track and field team, in the shot put discus, and Javelin. He played rugby for the Budd Bay Barbarians and his performance gained him an invitation to the USA Rugby U20 Camp in 2015 and 2016.
Lui attended American International College from 2015-2020 graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Digital of Arts with a minor in Communications. He was involved in both rugby 15s and 7s and helped the team achieve a ranking of 2nd nationally in rugby sevens in 2019. He also was named the top back at the Nationals that year.
Lui also played club 7s as part of the Washington Athletic Club team and helped the team win the 2019 National Championship.
