Major League Rugby Partners with National Collegiate Rugby

National Collegiate Rugby Release

National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) has announced a partnership with Major League Rugby (MLR). This partnership will allow NCR and MLR to work together to build a strong collegiate to professional rugby pathway for current and future members. This announcement comes in tandem with The Rugby Network partnership as a streaming service for many NCR matches including the 2021 Collegiate Rugby Championship in New Orleans, LA taking place May 29-31. NCR CEO Jeremy Treece said, “Major League Rugby is one of the ultimate goals of collegiate rugby players in the United States. The League gives our players the domestic competition to keep rugby growing in the U.S. and to provide a pathway and fanbase for teams around the country. Our collegiate teams will only enhance the player pool that MLR has to choose from, while we work together to promote their entertaining and exciting rugby matches that fans can catch online or in person.”

“We are thrilled to be supporting the National Collegiate Rugby Championship, as we view it as an integral part of the rugby pathway that MLR is dedicated to growing,” said MLR Commissioner George Killebrew, “In addition to the MLR Collegiate Draft, the National Collegiate Rugby Championship is another important step in the pathway towards professional rugby.”

Treece also said, “This partnership is one of many that we are working on to provide our members with many tools that will enhance their collegiate rugby experience and provide the members with benefits that they can really use.  We can’t wait to have the MLR stadiums filled with NCR Coaches, Players and Referees.”
