Rugby United New York Adds Aki Raymond

Rugby United New York added Akinola ‘Aki’ Raymond for the remainder of the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old wing is 5’9″ and 185 lbs.

Aki is from Lagos, Nigeria, and moved to Washington D.C. when he was 3 years old. He attended Elanor Roosevelt High School and then the University of Maryland from 2012-2016, major in Computer Engineering, as well as playing college rugby.

Aki was a USA High School All-American rugby back in sevens is 2012, He’s had an extensive rugby sevens career playing in the Serevi town 7s, Elite City 7s, Philly Elite City 7s, played with Atlantis Rugby at the Tobago International 7s. He was a MARFU 7s All-Star, played with Tiger Rugby in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Invitational Sevens in 2018, and the World Rugby Tens in Bermuda in 2020 for Tiger Rugby with the Phoenix Rugby Tens.

Aki played with Rocky Gorge in winning the USA Rugby Club National 2012 Division II Champions, played with the Potomac Exiles before returning to Rocky Gorge until moving to Boston and playing with Mystic River from 2017-2019. The team had a third-place finish at USA Rugby Club Nationals. During 2020-2021 he played with Old Blue after moving to New York.
