Rugby ATL added Marko Janse Van Rensburg for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 29-year-old hooker is 6’0″ and 240 lbs.
Marko was born in Vanderbijlpark, South Africa, and attended Vredenburg High School from 2005-2009. He played in 2013 for the Boland Cavaliers in the Vodacom Cup, making four appearances. From 2015-2017 he played for the University of Stellenbosch Maties in the Varsity Cup competition.
Marko played with the Pumas since 2017 in the Currie Cup and won the Rugby Challenge in 2018. He has made 50 appearances and scored 16 tries. During the 2019-2020 season, he played with the Lions.
Marko joins Rugby ATL fellow South Africans in 2021, Marno Redinghuys, Johan Momsen, Gericke Neethling, Kurt Coleman, Rowan Gouws, Robbie Petzer, Zander Van Schalkwyk, Duncan Van Schalkwyk, and Ryan Nell, with two additional players pending arrival and announcement.
