The Houston SaberCats signed Joseph Thomas for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old center is 5’11” and 200 lbs.
Joe was born in Swansea, Wales, and attended Neath Port Talbot College. He played rugby for Morriston RFC, the Ospreys Academy, Aberavon RFC, and Swansea RFC.
Joe made his Pro 14 Rugby debut for the Ospreys in 2015 and made 18 appearances for the club through the 2016 season. In 2016 he was part of the Wales U20s team that won a Grand Slam in 2016.
In 2017 he was loaned to the Dragons and then released by the Ospreys, a casualty of Project Reset. He then played club rugby in New Zealand for Otorohanga in the Waikato club competition and also worked in a timber yard while there.
In 2019-2020 he made six appearances for the Leicester Tigers in the English Premiership.
