The Toronto Arrows added Mason Flesch for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 21-year-old flanker is 6’5″ and 235 lbs.
Mason is from Cobourg, Ontario, and attended St. Mary’s Secondary School. There, he was an outstanding rugby player.
Mason played rugby for the Cobourg Saxons, age-grade rugby for the Ontario Blues, and played in the British Columbia Premier League with James Bay Athletic Association. In 2019 he played for Rugby Canada’s U20s Junior World Trophy team in three matches, starting once.
From 2019-2021, he was part of Rugby Canada’s residential Men’s Development Academy at the Al Charron National Training Centre and played for the Pacific Pride in the BC Premier League. He also was invited to Rugby Canada’s senior men’s three-week training camp in November.
Mason also was selected for the Vancouver Island Crimson Tide’s January 2020 match against the Seattle Seawolves.
Toronto Arrows Comments
The Toronto Arrows are pleased to announce the signings of Chris Atkinson and Mason Flesch out of the Rugby Canada National Development Academy.
Flesch, 21, commenced his sophomore campaign with the Pride this past autumn. Having featured for the Canada under-20s at the 2019 World Rugby Junior World Trophy, the 6’4”, 235-lb product of Cobourg, Ontario is able to play across the back row.
“Mason is a very big body who’s fast and athletic, and he gives us range and pace in the back row,” said Arrows Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Mark Winokur. “He stood out in the November camp, and is an Ontario guy through and through, having come through the Ontario Blues age-grade program. We think he has a big future.”
The Arrows will begin their third campaign in North America’s top-flight professional rugby league with a road match against the Rugby ATL on Saturday, Mar. 20, 2021.
