Rugby ATL Re-Signs Jason Damm

Rugby ATL re-signed Jason Damm for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old back row is 6’4″, and 245 lbs.

During the COVID-19 2020 truncated season, Jason played 141 minutes in 4 matches, starting once. He also played for Pathway 404 during Fall 2020. He also started for the Silver Rugby ATL squad against the Black squad, as well as against the Utah Warriors at No. 8 during the 2021 preseason.

During the 2019 MLR season, Jason played 79 minutes in 3 matches with the Glendale Raptors, starting once. He had 9 carries for 47 meters, made 15 tackles, and had 4 lineout takes. He played during the Fall with 404 Rugby ATL in the American Rugby Premiership.

Jason is from Marietta, Georgia, but grew up in Fort Mill, South Carolina. He attended Nation Ford High School and played football. He started playing rugby for the Carolina Dragons.

He then attended Clemson University from 2013-2017, earning a BS in Biological Sciences. Jason helped Clemson Rugby to become back-to-back Atlantic Coast Rugby League Championships, defeated Arkansas State in the 2015 Varsity Cup, and advanced to the Varsity Cup Quarterfinals in 2017 against Cal. The team also played in the Las Vegas Invitational 7s Final in 2017 and played in the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship.

In 2013-14 he was an Honorable Mention All-American Forward and played for the USA Junior All-Americans in 2014. He also was honored as ACRL Freshman of the Year and First Team All-Conference in 2014.

Jason has had some interesting jobs while in College. He was a deckhand for Alaska Coastal Marine in Summer 2015, a Research Assistant at Clemson in 2015-16, and a Zookeeper Intern at the Glendale Zoo in 2016. He also played for Columbia Olde Grey.

In 2018 Jason played with Vail Rugby in the Rocky Mountain Summer League. He then played with the Glendale Raptors in the Fall 2018 Exhibition season, beginning with their August match against the USA Rugby Collegiate All-Americans. His performance during the Fall has led to his signing a Raptors contract for the 2019 MLR season as a loose forward. He has played with Rugby ATL since 2020, and with 404 ATL since 2019.
