NOLA Gold Cameron Troxler 2021 Profile

NOLA Gold Rugby Club re-signed New Orleans native Cam Troxler for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old fullback/center (25 in May) is 6’1″, 205 lbs.

Cameron did not play in any 2020 regular-season matches during the Covid-19 shortened season. He played with New Orleans RFC and with NOLA Gold Academy, the latter during the Fall.

Cameron played 8 minutes in two matches and made three tackles in 2019. He spent most of the season playing for New Orleans RFC and in Fall 2019 helped lead Krewe RFC to the Robert Markel Cup. He also played with the New Orleans Sevens team over the Summer.

In 2018 he started twice in three matches, playing 179 minutes, and scoring three tries.

Troxler attended Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero, Louisiana, where he was an All-State HS (All Deep South) selection. He also was selected to the Louisiana Exiles, an HS All-Star Program. Other school activities included the National Honor Society and in Student Government, between 2010-2014.

He then attended Louisiana State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology in 2018. His concentration was in Human Movement Science/ Pre-Physical Therapy. He is currently at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans, studying physical therapy.

While at LSU, he played rugby and was selected for the USA Rugby South Panthers Under-19s team that played in the 2014 and 2015 NACRA Rugby Sevens in Trinidad and Tobago and Orlando, Florida, respectively. He was selected to the first team Red River All-Conference 1st Team in both 2016 and 2016.

During the Summer, while in College, he played for the New Orleans Rugby Club Sevens team. In 2016 and 2017 he went to USA Rugby Club 7s Nationals. He also played rugby XVs for the Republic of Texas All-Stars against the Liberty Conference All-Stars in Bermuda.

Following the conclusion of the LSU Rugby season in 2018, he joined NOLA Gold Rugby Club. During the inaugural season, he played in three matches, starting two and scoring three tries. In August, he continued his sevens involvement, playing for the USA Rugby Collegiate All-Americans in the Rugbytown Sevens.

NOLA Gold 2019 Comments

New Orleans Gold Rugby Club commented about him saying that “Local product Cam Troxler will be back in the Gold Jersey in 2019. Troxler grew up in New Orleans before attending LSU. During his time at LSU, Troxler was a constant standout on the rugby field. He was rewarded for his efforts with selection in the 2018 @usarugby College All-American 7s team. The Gold is committed to providing opportunities for outstanding local rugby players like Cam and we look forward to seeing him play in front of his hometown this year.”
