LA Giltinis added Frederick ‘Frikkie’ De Beer for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 29-year-old loosehead prop is 6’3″ and 265 lbs.
Frikkie re-signed with the Utah Warriors for 2020 but did not see any regular-season action during the Covid-19 truncated season. Frikke joined the LA Giltinis for their month-long preseason camp in Maui and then played in the team’s 2021 preseason win over Austin Giltinis.
Frikkie joined the Utah Warriors during the 2019 season and played 23 minutes in 2 matches. He carried the ball 4 times for 18 meters and made 7 tackles.
Following the 2019 season, he returned to the Chicago Lions and helped the team win the 2019 Midwest Division 1 Championship. The team will return to the USA Rugby Elite Cup Championship.
Frikkie is from South Africa and currently lives in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Hoërskool Brits, graduating in 2009. He then attended North-West University Potchefstroom from 2011-2014, playing rugby for the Barbarians at the University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science. He also spent time as a Camp Counselor at the Warthog Lodge while attending the University.
Following his graduation, he moved to the U.S. and played rugby with the Chicago Lions since 2015. The team went to the Elite Cup Championship in 2018.
