The Utah Warriors signed Logan Tago for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. U’umaulauaganu’u Tago is his formal name. The 23-year-old center/wing (24 in March) is 6’4″ and 250 lbs.
Logan is from Fagasa, American Samoa, and attended Samoana High School in Pago Pago. He was a multi-sport athlete, twice earning varsity letters in basketball, soccer, and volleyball, as well as varsity letters in football where he was the team’s captain his last two years.
In basketball, he was the MVP of the Championship game, and in volleyball, he was on the Samoa Bowl Team his junior year. He won many awards in football as the American Samoa High school Athletic Association Player of the Year his senior year, was the offensive MVP of the All-Star football game, was selected to the Polynesian All-American Bowl, and the East-West All-Star Team.
Logan attended Washington State University from 2015-2020 and was a four-year varsity letter football player at defensive end and linebacker. He played in 46 games, was All-Pac 12 Conference Second Team his senior year, and played in two Holiday Bowls, and the Alamo Bowl. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences with a minor in Sports Management and Human Development.
In 2019 he attended a Seattle Seahawks minicamp and played in the final pre-season match. He also signed with the Montreal Alouettes for the 2020 Canadian Football League season, however, the season was canceled due to Covid-19. From July through September 2020 he played rugby with the Salt Lake City Gladiators and this led to his signing with the Utah Warriors Selects in the Fall. Based on his performance he was one of seven players to join the Utah Warriors Training squad and now joins the team for 2021.
