Houston SaberCats signed Jinho Mun for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old scrumhalf (25 in May) is 5’9″ and 175 lbs. Jinho was drafted in the second round of the Dallas Jackals dispersal draft as the result of changing the team’s MLR debut to 2022.
He is from Aua, American Samoa, but lived in Christchurch, New Zealand, and later in Dunedin. He attended Aranui High School and played rugby while there. From 2018-2020 he attended Otago Polytechnic.
He played rugby with the Hellers Premier Colts of the Linwood Rugby Club and also with LRC Linwood in the Metro Division 1 from 2015-2018. He played with Harbour Hawks RFC in 2018-2019 and helped his team to the Championship Cup. During his second season, he played in the Top League Tournament for Yamaha Jubilo in Japan as an injury replacement.
A few months later, he joined the Korea Sevens team for the last leg of the Asia Rugby Sevens Series in Sri Lanka. He then moved to Dallas, Texas to play for the Dallas Harlequins.
