Seattle Seawolves Adds Darell Williams

The Seattle Seawolves added Darell Williams, their Round 2, Pick 16, in the 2021 MLR Collegiate draft, for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. Whether he is on the MLR roster is still to be determined. The 23-year-old wing is 6’0″ and 200lbs.

Darell played in for the Seawolves during their 2022 preseason match last weekend against Seattle RFC and scored a try.

Darell is from San Francisco, California, and began playing rugby his junior year at Archbishop Riordan High School. He played baseball from his youth through his junior year when he began playing rugby.

Darell attended San Francisco Community College from 2017-to 2019 and played in the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) competition. In 2018, he made the Pacific Coast Grizzlies regional team for NSCRO, which is now known as the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR), and was named MVP of the tournament with a Grizzlies victory. His performance led to an invitation to an All-American Camp as well, where he played for East 2 at Glendale, Colorado.

Darell then transferred to Life University in 2019, and in 2021 graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management. in 2019 he played for Atlanta Old White at the USA Club Sevens Nationals and with the Celtic Barbarians at the RugbyTown 7s that year. His performance placed him on the USA National Team Sevens radar.

 He shined on the wing both offensively and defensively with his change of pace and long stride. Williams returns to the west coast to debut in Major League Rugby with Seattle in 2022 and is the first Life University alumni to play for the Seawolves. Watch his college highlights here.
