Old Glory Signs Labi Koi-Larbi

Old Glory DC signed former Penn State University center and Gonzaga Alumni Labi Koi-Larbi for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. He was the team’s 2021 MLR Collegiate Draft Round 3,  32nd overall pick.

The 22-year-old center/wing is 6’0″ and 215 lbs.

LJ is from Washington, DC, and attended Gonzaga College High School, graduating in 2017. He played varsity football and helped the rugby team win two back-to-back high school national championship titles in 2015 and 2016. In 2017, Koi-Larbi was named captain of the team in his senior year.

He graduated from Penn State University this past May, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, and was a three-year starter on the collegiate rugby team. During his tenure, the outside center was a key player on the Penn State team and was named to the 2018 Rugby East All-Conference team.

LJ played for Young Glory U23s against the Connecticut Selects and played in last weekend’s 2022 preseason match against the Toronto Arrows at St. James.

Old Glory DC Comments

“LJ is a local player and continues our strong link to Gonzaga,” said Douglas. “Gonzaga is a high school powerhouse in rugby, and we are proud to make LJ the 5th member to join our team. Part of Old Glory’s vision is to create links with our local rugby community, and it’s great to see these relationships continue to grow.”
