The Dallas Jackals signed Alejandro Torres for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. He was drafted in Round 2, Pick 23, in the 2021 Major League Rugby Collegiate Draft. The 22-year-old flyhalf (23 in April) is 5’11” and 170 lbs.
Alejandro is from Tucuman, Argentina, and has played rugby since the age of 5. He attended Colegio San Patricio and then earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Universitario de Tucuman before attending Thomas More University where he earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2021 and helped the rugby team win the Division 2 National Collegiate Rugby National Championship.
He played for the Argentina U20 side in 2017 and attend and play at Universitario Rugby Club de Tucuman, winning a Regional Championship.
In 2019, Alejandro played for the South American select side against Uruguay. Next, he signed with the professional side Olimpia Lions who play in Superliga Americana de Rugby.
Dallas Jackals Comments
Torres said, “I am really excited to have the opportunity to play in the Jackals and in the MLR, and share the field with awesome and experienced players.” He continued, “This is a great opportunity to learn and grow as a player.”
As a recent draftee, Torres says he hopes to help build a team identity in this first season while “always having fun playing footy.”
