Dallas Jackals Signs Aaron Gray

The Dallas Jackals signed Aaron Gray for the 2022 Inaugural Major League Rugby season. Aaron was drafted 14th overall by the Jackals in the 2021 MLR Collegiate Draft and is excited about his new start in Dallas. The 24-year-old wing is 5’10” and 180 lbs.

Aaron was born in Washington, D.C., and played football, basketball, baseball, and running track. He began playing rugby his sophomore year at Perry Street Prep in Washington D.C and would play on multiple select sides throughout Maryland.

Aaron went to Kutztown University in PA in 2016, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management in December 2021. He had numerous honors, including being the D1A East Back of the Year, Collegiate All-American, selected twice to First Team All-Conference, and Second Team All-Conference in ‘17-’18. He was selected to join the USA U20 All-American side and also played with the USA Men’s 7s Falcons in 2020.

During the offseason, Gray has played for Rocky Gorge, Denver Barbarians, Beltway Elite, and Schuylkill River Exiles.

Dallas Jackals Comments

GM Elaine Vassie said, “As a Collegiate All-American, USA 7’s Falcons, and USA 20’s player with infectious energy, Aaron’s movement sees him taking on people with dynamism and speed. His finishing ability combined with his emphasis on growing makes him a truly exciting prospect to join us in our inaugural season.”

When asked what he’s looking forward to in his new home in Dallas, Gray said, “I am most looking forward to meeting everyone that is a part of the Dallas family. Also, coming to show that this is where I belong, and I have worked long and hard to get to this point. I am excited to learn and grow with Dallas.”

Gray, raised by a single mother, has an older sister and younger brother and also has a close relationship with his grandparents. Gray says his favorite food is sushi and in his free time he likes to try new restaurants, play basketball, bowl, and spend time with his family and friends.

Gray continued, “I am excited to join the Jackals because playing professional rugby has always been a dream of mine since I started playing rugby 8 years ago. Having the opportunity to be a part of a brand-new team is something I am very excited about.”

Welcome to the Pack Aaron!
