Dallas Jackals signed Timmy Ohlwein for the 2022 Inaugural Major League Rugby season as a Development Player. The 23-year-old loosehead prop (24 in February) is 6’2″ and 240lbs.
Timmy is from Lindenhurst, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago. He attended Lake Community High School where he was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball.
He began playing rugby at Florida State University and joined the club team. His sophomore year he was selected to the Southern Independent Selects and named MVP of the squad. After spending the summer at the Alaska Mountain Rugby Grounds, he met Arkansas Stae University head Coach Jake Mizell and transferred there.
GM Elaine Vassie said, “As a multi-sport athlete, with a real focus on developing, his transition to prop occurred at Arkansas State in 2019. We’re really excited to continue to work with Timmy on this and support his aspirations moving forward.”
With the next level in his grasp, Timmy still has his standards set high, “It means everything to have this opportunity to be part of the Jackals. When I transferred to Arkansas State University, the goal was to make it to the next level after college. This is the next step to keep growing as a player and hopefully someday represent the National team.”
He continued, “I am excited to join the Jackals in their first season and be part of something new. It is a great opportunity to grow as a player with the coaches and players from different backgrounds.” When asked about Dallas, Timmy stated, “I am looking forward to living somewhere different. I have never been to Dallas, but have only heard good things about it and look forward to experiencing it myself.”
Welcome to the Pack Timmy!
