NOLA Gold Signs Gabe Farley

NOLA Gold signed Gabriel Farley through the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old center (27 in January)  is 6’1″ and 210 lbs.

Gabe played in all five matches with the Austin Gilgronis during the truncated MLR season, starting the final three.

Gabe was born in Denver, Colorado, but moved to Australia with his family when he was one. His hometown is Maroubra, a beachside suburb in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

He began playing rugby at the age of five and later attended Waverly College in Sydney from 2007-2012. During 2011 and 2012 he played rugby in the first XVs, further making the C.A.S. NSW 1st XV representative squad. He also played junior rugby league for the Sydney Roosters U15s, U16s, and U17s teams.

From 2013-2017 he received a rugby scholarship to Lindenwood University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political and Ethical Philosophy. He played fullback and center with the university rugby team. He was selected for the USA Rugby U20s team for the 2014 Junior World Trophy Team in Hong Kong and played in all four matches, scoring two tries.

Gabe also played Rugby League for the Philadelphia Flight in 2017. He was selected to the 2013 USA Rugby League Cup team but only played one match against France in Toulouse. He also was selected in the USA 2017 Rugby League Cup playing in two matches, after playing in five U.S.international matches from 2016-2017. In 2018 after briefly returning to Australia, Gabe played in the NSW Tertiary Rugby League Team against Queensland.

Gabe also returned to Waver;y College and became a U16 boys rugby coach and a U13 boys cricket coach from 2017-2019.

He also has pursued a Master’s Degree in Environmental Planning with a specialization in Urban and Regional Planning from 2018-2020.
