San Diego Legion Signs Argentina international Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias

San Diego Legion signed Argentina international Santiago Gonzáles Iglesias for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 32-year-old flyhalf/center (33 in June) is 5’10” and 202 lbs.

Santiago was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and attended Salvador School. He played youth soccer prior to turning to rugby

He played rugby for Asociación Alumni from 2009 in the URBA Top 14, Pampas XV in the Vodacom Cup, and World Rugby Pacific Challenge, and played Super Rugby between 2016-2019 for the Jaguares. In the 2019-2020 season, he played in Japan’s Top League with the Manukata Sanix Blues.

International Career

Santiago played in 41 test matches for Argentina. He made his debut against Chile on 20 May 2009 in Montevideo, Uruguay in the South American Championship, Division 1. His last test was against Australia on 6 October 2018 in the Rugby Championship.

Santiago has also played with the Barbarians in November 2019.
