The San Diego Legion re-signed Dylan Audsley for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old center 27 in January) is 6’0″ and 200lbs.
Dylan started all five matches during the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season. His versatility was evident, as he was on the left-wing twice, fullback twice, and once at the inside center.
In 2019 he played in 11 matches and was a key contributor before an injury derailed his season. Still, he played 795 minutes, scored 14 points, including one try, carried the ball 51 times for 452 meters, had 3 linebreaks, 5 tackle breaks, 5 offloads, kicked 3 times for 57 meters, and made 125 tackles.
In 2018 he played 374 minutes in five matches, four of them as a starter, and scored 22 points.
Audsley is from London, U.K., and was USA eligible due to his American mother. He went to high school in the U.S., first at Notre Dame High School from 2008 to 2010 before transferring to Chaparral High School in 2010 and graduating in 2012. He then attended St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California from 2013 through his graduation in 2017 as an Art History, Criticism, and Conservation major.
He was a Junior All-American at the 2013 Junior World Championship and was a likely selection in 2014 before an injury derailed his selection.
In 2015 Audsley was named College Back of the Year by the Goff Rugby Report. He also won College Player of the Year honors with This Is American Rugby. In 2016 was honored with the Rudy Scholz Award as the nation’s best men’s college rugby player and was named to the Eagles Elite Development Squad.
In 2017 Audsley toured Ireland and Scotland with St. Mary’s College.
USA Rugby Men’s Eagles
Dylan Audsley came on for the Eagles against Argentina XV in the 5th minute on Feb. 3, 2018, in an Americas Rugby Championship match in Carson, California. Since Argentina XV was not a national team, his Eagles test was the following Saturday against Canada. He now has eight caps, starting four matches and scoring two tries. He played against Scotland on June 16, 2018, in the team’s historic 30-29 win. He also started for the Eagles in a non-test match against the Maori All Blacks on November 3, 2018, at Soldier Field in Chicago. His last test was against Uruguay as part of the Americas Rugby Championship on March 2, 2019.
