The Utah Warriors signed Matthew Dalton for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 22-year-old lock/blindside flanker is 6’6″ and 255 lbs.
Maddy is from Belfast, Northern Ireland, and attended Belfast Royal Academy. He began playing rugby at age 14, played soccer, and represented Ireland schools in the Pentathlon. He played age-grade rugby for Ulster, playing for the U17s, U18s, U19s, and U20s.
Maddy joined the Ulster Academy when he was 18 and a year later made his debut for Ulster at age 19. Since then he has made 14 PRo 14 appearances for the team. He also played for Ireland U20s at the 2018 Six Nations U20s Championship and the World Rugby U20s Championship. He also played club rugby for Malone.
He recently spent time in Australia playing with Bond University on the Gold Coast.
