The Utah Warriors re-signed Calvin Whiting for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old center is 6’1″ and 220 lbs. Calvin will be 25 at the end of November.
Calvin started all five matches during the COVID-19 shortened MLR season. Two matches each were at the inside and outside the center, with one on the left wing.
Calvin is from Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. He attended Fourways High School and then Lone Peak High School in Utah and played rugby for United High School Rugby Club. He was a three-time High School All-American and the team captain. United also won a National Championship.
He attended Brigham Young University from 2015-2019, as a Management major. He was an All-American in 2015, won the National Title in 2015, and was an All-American Honorable Mention in 2017.
On February 25, 2017, he made his debut for the USA Rugby men’s national team against Chile in the Americas Rugby Championship.
During Summer 2019 he played at the USA Club 7s Nationals for Park City Haggis. He also won two National 7s Championships with Rugby Utah.
Calvin has had several years of high-performance rugby matches under his belt and is a key contributor for the Utah Warriors.
