Utah Warriors re-signed Hagen Schulte for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old flyhalf/fullback (28 in January) is 6’0″ and 210 lbs.
During the 2020 MLR season, Hagen started the first four matches at flyhalf.
Hagen is from Christchurch, New Zealand. He attended S.t Bebe’s College in Christchurch and then went to Lincoln University. He was qualified to play for Scotland based on his grandmother is Scottish, however, he elected to play for Germany which he also was qualified for.
Hagen played club rugby for Marist Albion in Christchurch, New Zealand, and was the top scorer in the Canterbury league before signing for the Warriors. He also played for Canterbury at age grades.
He played for Buller Rugby Union in 2015 and then for the Glasgow Warriors and the Glasgow Hawks during the 2016-2017 season. he made his debut with the Warriors during a pre-season match against the Harlequins on 20 August 2016 and his PRO 12 debut against the Scarlets on 10 February 2017.
He left Scotland for Germany and played with Heidelberger RK for the 2017-2018 season in the Rugby-Bundesliga.
Hagen has eight caps for Germany, seven of them starts. He made his debut against the USA National Team on 18 November 2017 at Fullback and the last of his tests was against Russia at Heidelburg on Mar 2, 2019.
