The Dallas jackals drafted Tommy Hunkin-Clark as the 9th pick in the Major League Rugby Collegiate Draft. The 23-year-old- back row is 6’4″ and 240 lbs.
Tommy is from Tacoma, Washington, and lives in Olympia. He attended River Ridge High School where he played football, basketball, rugby, and track and field. He was named an All-State Defensive Lineman in football and played for the Budd Bay Barbarians Rugby Club, who were two-time state champions. Tommy switched to rugby from high school football after a serious injury threatened his ability to play competitive sport.
Tommy attended American International College from 2016-2020, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Media Studies. He played rugby for AIC and was named the top forward for the team in 2019. In 2017 he was a Junior All-American (U20), a second-team Collegiate All-American in 2018, and a third-team one in 2019, and the Liberty Conference MVP in 2018. In 2020, Tommy was a Rudy Schultz Award Finalist.
Tommy was one of the players that were featured by Major League Rugby ahead of the Collegiate Draft.
