USA Rugby South Release
To South Men’s Clubs and South Men’s Colleges:
USA Rugby South has created an Under-23 program to help bridge the divide from its Under-19 programs to its Men’s Senior program. We want to ensure that your aspiring players have an opportunity step up to into this atmosphere. On August 22, 2020, we will hold a camp at Furman University in Greenville, SC to assess player skills.
At the conclusion of this camp, some players will be invited into a team to play the Alberta Canada Under -23 provincial side in November 2020 (tentative). Should players not be selected for that game, there will be other opportunities soon after against the Capital Rugby Union Selects. We will take two teams to the Savannah Tournament, March 6 and we are currently investigating a game with the Bahamas National Team for the U23 group in January 2021.
If you have skilled players that project to a higher level of play, we encourage you to have them attend. While this camp is specific to the U23 program, if you feel strongly about players up to age 25 please contact us about these players so we can look at them for the senior men’s program.
This camp is not intended as a skills learning camp for those new to the game. The camp will be limited to 60 players and all must come fit, ready to return to rugby and with their coach’s recommendation. We have invited MLR coaches to observe the talent you put forward.
All players must register for the camp at this link and be prepared to pay a $50 camp fee.

As part of the registration process, you are given a link for your coach’s recommendation.
The camp will consist of –
1) Fitness testing
2) Over-all skill assessment
3) Live drills and games
There is a lot of change in our rugby world right now and much is uncertain with the coronavirus but there will be rugby again and we want to be at the forefront of your planning.
