Seattle Seawolves Partners with City of Tukwila

Tukwila, WA. (February 5, 2020) – The Seattle Seawolves and the City of Tukwila announced today a new partnership for the 2020 Major League Rugby (MLR) season.

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with the city that’s been the Seawolves home since the launch of Major League Rugby in 2018,” said Seawolves president, Shane Skinner.  “We’ve made so many great memories in the City of Tukwila, including two championship seasons, and we look forward to partnering with Tukwila, as we work to bring a third MLR championship home to our fans.”

The City of Tukwila is home to Starfire Sports, a massive multi-field complex nestled along the Green River where the Seawolves train and play home matches to sell-out crowds. Tukwila’s strong commitment to fostering the growth of both professional and amateur sports makes it the ideal location for the Seawolves training facility and home pitch.

“It was only natural for the City of Tukwila to partner with our hometown champion Seawolves,” said Tukwila Mayor Allan Ekberg “The Seawolves draw an enthusiastic crowd to Tukwila throughout their season and as part of this new partnership, we will be able to offer even more exciting opportunities to those fans.”

Fans can expect a series of player appearance at a variety of family-friendly events around the City of Tukwila, plus two Official Away Match Viewing Parties at Virtual Sports, a facility that uses the most advanced technology on the market to create an environment that’s fun for everyone with activities such as laser tag, putt-putt, and virtual reality fun.

Seattle Seawolves

A founding member of Major League Rugby, the Seattle Seawolves are MLR’s reigning back-to-back champions. The Seawolves kick off their official MLR season on February 9, 2020, in San Diego in a championship rematch against the San Diego Legion which will be nationally televised on CBS Sports. Select Major League Rugby games will be televised on the CBS Sports Network as part of an exclusive, multi-year television partnership between MLR and the television network with the “CBS Game of the Week”. The majority of the Seawolves matches will be shown regionally on ROOT Sports.
