Houston SaberCats vs NOLA Gold Preview

The Houston SaberCats host NOLA Gold Rugby Club on January 25 at 7 pm CT at AVEVA Stadium. Last week the SaberCats lost 29-19 to the Tasman Mako while NOLA Gold lost an expanded match with three periods to Rugby ATL 34-33.

Head Coach Paul Healy has made eight changes in the starters from last week’s match against the Tasman Mako. Boyd Wiggins and Mathew Faogali are at tighthead prop and No. 8, respectively with Diego Magno switching from No.8 to lock.

Backs changes include halfbacks, Jake Christmann and Zachary Short, inside center Taylor Howden, wings Tim Stanfill and Zack Godfrey with Kieran Farmer at fullback.

Reserve changes include the return of Malacchi Esdale from the Coral Coast Sevens with the USA Falcons and the addition of Max Wilson and James Lewis.

With the Major League Rugby season ready to begin in two weeks, Nat Osborne will want to fine-tune his squad against the SaberCats tonight. The squad is an experienced one with the team having a chance to develop cohesion.
