Rugby United New York Re-Signs Gavan D’Amore-Morrison

Rugby United New York re-signed Gavan D’Amore Morrison for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old wing is 6’2″ and 215 lbs.

Gavan played 210 minutes in 9 matches in 2019. Rooster #23 carried 15 times for 142 meters and made 17 tackles.

Following the season, he helped Old Blue gain the Bronze Medal at the USA Club 7s Nationals. He then played for the Tsunami Sport Barbarians at the Rugbytown Sevens. His performance in the Summer Sevens earned him a spot in the USA Eagles High-Performance Training Camp at Chula Vista, California, as well as in the Oktoberfest Sevens in Germany. He also is representing the Ramblin Jesters at the 2019 Dubai Sevens.

Gavan if from Roslindale, Massachusetts and attended Brookline High School. Following his graduation, he attended American International College, where he was a Collegiate All-American Honorable Mention in 7s in 2015 and Second Team in 2016. He helped lead the team to the College 7s Nationals.

Gavan has also played for the Northeast Academy for several years. He toured with the team to the 2015 Rugbytown 7s and in 2017 to the Rainforest 7s in Costa Rica. Gavan also plays club rugby with Old Blue. In 2018 Old Blue went undefeated in the American Rugby Premiership and won the Elite Cup over the Chicago Lions.

Gavan also played in the exhibition season for RUNY in 2018 and will help the team in 2019. He is among many teammates that are employed fulltime. He is a third-grade teaching assistant at the Buckley School in New York City.
