Jericevich has been the Head Coach for the Blacks since 2014 and was the Head Coach for the Texas State University program from 2015-2018.
“My role as Head Coach for the Austin Blacks and involvement with Texas State Rugby for the past 5 seasons has allowed me to play an important part in the development of rugby in the area. We’ve seen huge progress locally with Austin now standing as one of the hotbeds of rugby in the United States,” said Tane Jericevich. “I’m excited for the challenge to coach in the MLR and use the grassroots success of the past few years to help transform the Austin Herd into one of the top professional programs in the country.”
The Austin Blacks Division 1 side reached the USA Rugby Club Finals three times in five years under Coach Jericevich. In 2019, all three sides reached the national quarterfinals; a feat never before accomplished in the history of domestic club rugby. As a player-coach for the Division 3 side, Jericevich brought the national championship trophy to Austin. Jericevich will continue to serve as the Head Coach for the Austin Blacks program.
As a player, Jericevich began at the youth level with Garioch before progressing to Aberdeen Grammar. He represented Scotland at the under 19 level and earned national team caps in 7s before enjoying a professional career from 2008 to 2013 in Italy and Spain.
Tane Jericevich brings a robust coaching resume and a deep understanding of the Texas Rugby landscape.
