White Plains Rugby Club Release

White Plains, NY, May 8, 2019

White Plains Rugby Club has appointed Phil Terrigno to the role of head 7’s coach for Summer, 2019.

Terrigno is an assistant coach at nationally-ranked Army West Point Men’s rugby and the U20’s coach for Rugby United New York in Major League Rugby.

Terrigno, the former head coach at D1A program Texas Tech University, has vast global coaching experience having completed coach education with the Tafel Lager Griquas (Currie Cup, South Africa) and Benetton Treviso (Pro14, Italy).

We are very excited to welcome Phil to the White Plains Rugby family – to have someone with his experience and expertise lead our 7’s program, is a real asset, said Eric Nicklas, the club’s president. Phil’s coaching philosophies and values are strongly aligned with our club and as we strive to return to being a premier club on the national scene, a strong 7’s program is integral to our success.

“Joining the WPRFC team means a great deal to me – on a personal note, it has deep ties to the New Rochelle High School rugby program I played for,” Terrigno said. “White Plains has had a massive spring season and we intend to carry that momentum into Summer 7’s and beyond.”
