Old Glory DC Signs Chris Kunkel

Old Glory DC has signed Chris Kunkel for the 2019 season. The 26-year-old flyhalf/inside center is 6’2″ and 232 lbs.

Chris is from Bel Air, Maryland and attended John Carroll High School. He played rugby for North Bay Rugby Club while in high school. Following his graduation, he attended James Madison University until his graduation in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. He played rugby for the Dukes and was a three-time Collegiate All-American. In 2015 the team won the Division II National Sevens Championship and he was named tournament MVP.

Chris then played professional rugby with Richmond RFC (UK) in the RFU Championship 3rd Division in 2015 and for the Ohio Aviators in 2016. From 2016-2018, he played club rugby with Rocky Gorge.

In 2015 he attended a USA National Tracking Camp in Wilmington Delaware and in2017 played for the Capital Rugby Union Selects against USA Rugby South. He also was a Landshark Rugby Camp Coach in 2017.

Chris has a National Strength & Conditional Association Certification. He is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Physical Therapy at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Chris looks forward to playing with Old Glory DC and hopes to contribute to the team’s success.
